If the new Star Trek movie reboots Star Trek history, why are trekkies upset? Its fiction- ALL of it is made up, so why does it matter if new things are made up? It happens in comic books all the time....Here are some things that should be changed- *Write out the Christopher Pike character- Have Kirk accept command of the Enterprise upon graduation of Starfleet acadamy... *Have Kirk & Spock roomates at Starfleet, and going on together to be assigned to the Enterprise. *Have the Enterprise fight ther Romulans.. If the film writers have to operate withion 'canon', their hands might be tied- To hell with canon- I say let the writers make a good film as possible- also, tone down the blatent liberalism that ruined some of the Star trek spin offs for me....

What do you think about the Star Trek movie to be released in May 2009? I think the plot sucks not to mention they may screw up the time line. Going back to the orignal characters wasn't a really good idea but I'll wait to see if all the recast workout. Overall i'm sick of seeing prequels the orignal cast was so good and they played their characters so good that it should of be left alone.

How does new Star Trek movie fit in with canon? I was just wondering how the new Star Trek movie fits in with canon of Star Trek. I just saw some pics of the Enterprise and while it resembles other Star Ships they obviously updated it. However in other Star Trek series DS9, Enterprise, TNG they seemed to adhere to the classic set designs and models when showing The Original Series Era. I never had trouble with the dated look. Is the new movie a reboot rather than a prequel? If so how are die hard trekkies or trekkers taking it. I admit I don't stay on top of things with Star Trek, but I am a fan and would hate to see them ruin a good thing.

Shatner & new Star Trek movie question? William Shatner apparently isn't going to be a part of yet another new Star Trek movie, and pal Leonard Nimoy is. Shatner has made public comments saying he should be included because of his popularity. I believe since they wrote off his character, he closed that chapter of his life, and he must simply be jealous since he can't possibly need the money. What do you think? I just hope to GOD that they don't screw up this one. I think going back to the classics is the only way to save a franchise. I mean look at the Batman movies: The first 2 were good, but then they BUTCHERED the rest. Then they put Christian Bale in the driver's seat...and BAM! Batman lives again! (Especially with the DK movie coming out this summer.) It's not campy, it's not stupid. There's no rubber suits and oversized pec muscles poking out. STAR TREK needs to be reimagined for the next generation of movies. Out with the old, in with the new. What do you think?
